1. You are now having flu like symptoms.
2. Flu is a contagious disease and can transmit easily to other people and family members.
3. You are infectious as long as you are still coughing and sneezing. It will put your family members especially those who are sick, young, pregnant at risk of bad complications. Therefore, it is your very important duty of not transmitting the flu virus to your family members or close friends.
4. Therefore, you must practice proper hand hygiene, cough & sneezing etiquette as listed on the given leaflet. We would appreciate if you take time to read it.
5. You should avoid going to public area -- including work place and crowded places till your symptoms resolved fully to prevent transmitting the virus to other people.
6. If you are working, please ask for sick certificate from your doctor and rest at home. Take the medications given to you and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
7. For adult, if you develop any of the below signs and symptoms -- please come immediately to hospital for assessment
- Respiratory Difficulties: Shortness of breath, rapid breathing or purple / blue discoloration of lips
- Coughing out blood or blood streaked sputum
- Persistent chest pains
- Persistent diarrhed and / or vomiting
- Fever persisting beyond 3 days or recurring after 3 days
- Abnormal behaviour, confusion, less responsive, convulsion
- Dizziness when standing and / or reduced urine production
8. For chidren, if they develop any of the below signs and symptoms -- please come immediately to hospital for assessment
- Lethargy ( tired looking / not active ) or poor oral intake
- Change in mental status or behavior eg. Drowsiness, irritability
- Signs of dehydration: sunken eyes, dry tongue, absence o tears during crying or poor urine output
- Increasing respiratory rate: fast breathing, noisy breathing, presence of chest recession ( chest in-drawing)
- Fit
- Cyanosis -- tongue / lips appear bluish in colour
- Persistent fever
9. For children who is attending play-school, nursery or school, please make sure they go back to respective places only after thir flu symptoms fully resolve, or else they run a risk of transmitting it to other children, A letter can be obtained fro the doctor if necessary to excuse your child from school.
